The Table, 2016

Philadelphia Mural Arts Program and Southeast by Southeast

Students attending the art program at Southeast by Southeast, a refugee mental health and arts organization run by Mural Arts, worked on a project based on the idea of the exchange that happens when sharing a meal. Inspired by the value of learning from each other’s experiences, the class designed different elements of a table as a way to promote conversation. The Table was designed as an interactive installation. Each element of The Table from the painted plates down to the batiked placemats is a reflection of each student’s experience and the questions they have for one another.
