Navy Yard Shipping Container, 2016
Philadelphia Mural Arts Program
Students in the Mural Arts free after-school program competed against each other to design a shipping container mural at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia. Lead by Sarah Folger and taking inspiration from nearby Bartram’s Gardens, the class experimented with different media including watercolor and screen printing. They then combined their art together into digital designs using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Defeating the other high school classes, these middle school students saw their collaborative design installed as a permanent vinyl wrap in front of Franklin Square Capitol at the Navy Yard.
